I went down to Loganholme and visited Guerilla Blasters. With tight CQB turns on stamped ground, this field isn't for the faint of heart.

Home of the Silverback clan.

Situated at 19 Josephine Street, Loganholme, Guerilla Blasters hosts the most number of games each calendar month. With speedball, CTF (that's capture the flag for the newcomers), breach and clear and many more games on offer you won't have time to ponder each move you make - this field is a maze of barricades, sight funnels and obstructions that keep players on their toes. We go behind the scenes to find out more about this unique location.

“ Fast paced, Action Packed Blaster FUN..... GET in, GET to the objective, GET out. This will take TEAMWORK, SKILL, TACTICS & COURAGE to win. ”

Situated in a quiet corner of Loganholme, Guerilla Blasters has come a long way from its early humble beginnings. Now currently expanding its footprint, the field offers a one of a kind experience with densely populated barricades, obstacles and a surprising level of complexity on offer.

The Barricades

At the time of writing this, the field has three zones, which when put into context, deliver an 'L' shaped arena. Barricades range from industrial tyre columns to wooden stands and corridors and even include bespoke fully modular 'rooms' that can be reassembled into a mind boggling array of different layouts.

Each week the owner Morgan Peters puts up new layouts and designs to keep his regulars guessing what the layout will be when they arrive geared up and ready to go.

Safe Zones and Spectator Platform

Naturally on arrival there is the safe zone, with plenty of seating and wet weather protection for players, and cold drinks are for sale as well. Moving past the safe area there are two entry points to the field, both marked so players know where they can test fire their blasters pre-game, an important point when the average blaster usually takes a whole mag to lube the barrel and cancel out any ammo chop (where balls shred on exiting the barrel).

Above the player safe area is possibly the single biggest draw card to this great site - a viewing platform that allows full spectator access to the field - with a bird's eye view it is no wonder it is popular for the referees monitoring the matches.

New Player Rentals

New players need not worry either, there are rentals available in packages that cover entry fee, unlimited ammunition and freshly charged batteries - Solid blasters that went all day long and didn't cause any problems that we could see (the players were very happy indeed).

With a reasonable entry fee of $20.00 for players bringing their own kit and a site that is almost equidistant between southern and northern fields we found the drive short and the games intense - there isn't much time allowed between matches, only to rehydrate and refill mags. That detested sight of players not calling their shots didn't occur to our amazement, and it feels as though the field has a strong local following. This is one field keeping itself relevant and evolving - give them a try, the worst you can get is a great series of close quarters firefights.
